Outdoor Pavilion to Honor Potter Who Bought Freedom

A truly meaningful story about a new outdoor space designed by Hood Design Shop for Winston-Salem’s Creative Corridors Coalition — a 501c3 nonprofit responsible for many of the iconic road design around Salem Parkway.

The park will be in honor of Peter Oliver, an enslaved man living in Wachovia who used his talent as a potter to eventually travel north to purchase his freedom. Though uncertain, he returned to the south and to Old Salem to farm the land with his fellow Moravian neighbors.
